VO based access to numerical simulation results

GAVO is collaborating with the MPA in exploring methodologies and techniques for publishing the results of simulations. As a first example, GAVO has started projects with the aim of creating a queryable interface to a dataset resulting from a cosmological simulation and by creating a web interface to some of the advanced analysis services. From this page one can access the results of these projects.

We have created a query interface around the halo catalogue extracted from a relatively small scale simulation run as a preparation for the Millennium simulation which has since been completed and is being analysed by standard means. The catalogue has been stored in a relational database and structured in such a way to enable efficient extraction of halo merger histories. We also make a "virtual telescope"-like application available. This application is create by Jermey Blaizot and is similar to the MoMaf applications available through GalICS. To access this application push the "MoMaf2" button.
