GAVO, as Germany's contribution to the VO effort, is funded through the BMBF as well as other sources (e.g., the European ADIA, CoSADIE, and Asterics projects); currently, the main funded activities take place at Zentrum für Astronomie, Universität Heidelberg (ARI/ZAH) and Astrophysikalisches Institut Potsdam (AIP).
