Archives & Services

Below is a list of actively maintained services built by GAVO. Some of these provide science ready results, others are more intended to provide working examples for other developers who pursue similar goals.

The services range from simple, standard cone searches, through more complex query services to multi-catalogue matching and classification services. They provide easy access to data archives and simulation data according to VO standards. We plan to continuously extend the number of services offered and to increase the number of archives that can be accessed via these services.

Each service is described in detail on the start page of the application. The following is a list of all web services that have been published by the GAVO team itself. For links to external services see the External page.

Services to discover and to access images, and xxx from ROSAT archive in MPE.The archive includes all the data including pointed observations as well as all sky survey, and all filters, PS, PSPC, and HRI.The web pages implement the IVOA standard Simple Cone Search andSimple Image Access Protocol.
A web service for querying the results of the using SQL. A very successful project with 200 registered users, posing on average 6700 queries per day. Contributed to >30 papers.
A growing collection of data and services provided on behalf of third parties.
Access to a growing archive of radial velocities for currently 50.000 stars, as well as stellar parameters of 20.000 stars (DR2).
A prototype for a more complex, "interoperable" web application. Allows a user to query the ROSAT All Sky Survey source catalogue, cross-match this with a number of external catalogues to retrieve information for these sources in different wavelength ranges, and sends the result to a remote web service that classifies the results.
A simple 'virtual telescope', producing an all-sky map of the cosmic microwave background as it will be observed by the Planck satellite. Interesting features are the ability to add a variety of foregrounds and that the results are returned in the official format to be produced by Planck.
Another 'virtual telescope', in this case mimicking observations of galaxy clusters that have been simulated with simulator codes including hydrodynamics.
Services to discover and access one dimensional spectra remotely. Two data sets are made available: optical follow up of Chandra Deep Field South observations, and a set of theoretical spectra of planetary nebulae.
Service built to release data to both the astronomical community and the public including data sharing and viewing facilities. The data are XMM observation of A3266 as well as 4 HIFLUGCS clusters and a Chandra observation of M84. Images can be obtained in various physical quantities, temperature, gas mass, iron abundance etc.
In its history, GAVO has produced a number of products that are no longer actively supported. We provide links here to those services, both for keeping a record of our activities, and in case some users are interested. They can try them out and contact us if they are interested in further development or support.
